Absence of you

In the darkness, you are my flashlight,

Shining bright in the sky, showing me the way,

As hungry as the wolves, I devour the day,

If my heart was a hotel, you'd know all guests have left me,

But if it was home, you'd make it a beautiful place to stay,

We are all drunk in the madness of life,

Each one wants to end the pain and the strife,

I write of my own flesh to know that I am still alive,

Yes alive! Till I don't drown in that deep ocean of eyes where I dive,

Behold the light and look up in the gloaming sky,

High above the clouds of love where birds fly,

But never argue with someone who believes their own lie,

They say, if a writer falls in love with you, you will never die,

Not all wounds are so obvious, there are only few,

There's something subtly explosive about you I knew,

That's the glimmer of your beauty in sunlight and hue,

Truth be told, darkness isn't the absence of light,

It's the absence of you.
